- An NNPC spokesman, Ohi Alegbe, has confirmed that the NNPC has shut down crude oil flows to the two pipelines due to the recent attacks on the facilities. Militants had bombed some oil and gas facilities in Gbaramatu last week, allegedly in protest over the reported arrest warrant issued on the former militant leader, Tompolo. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The shutdown affects both the Kaduna and Warri refineries, as well as gas supplies the various generating companies.
- The CBN has announced a N300 billion special intervention fund to boost non-oil exports in the country. The announcement was made at the end of a non-oil export conference convened by the CBN and the Nigerian Export-Import Bank. The intervention fund would be given to exporters at an interest rate of not more than nine per cent. The CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, had earlier indicated that the country might be heading for tougher times because it recorded a decline of $6.14 billion (N1.2 trillion) in non-oil exports receipts from $10.53bn in 2014 to $4.39bn in 2015.
- Premium Times is reporting that Nigeria’s government will declare a few top officials from the Goodluck Jonathan administration wanted, in connection with several ongoing corruption investigations. Top on the list of those to be declared wanted is a former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Bello Adoke who is wanted in connection with the $1.1 billion Malabu Oil deal. Mr. Adoke is believed to be in Dubai. Also on the list is the publisher of ThisDay Newspaper, Nduka Obaigbena. He will be declared wanted for receiving N670 million from former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki.
