Target practice

In the last month there have been four high profile incidents in which policemen have been murdered, and their weapons removed.

Among other bits of data, SBM Intelligence tracks reports of policemen being killed, and these incidents so close to one another, forced us to look at our records. In many of these cases, the weapons belonging to the murdered policemen were taken away, ostensibly by their murderers.

As a result of the ongoing Boko Haram insurgency, the data that makes up this infograph excludes killings in the North-East geopolitical zone. This data covers the period from January 1, 2018 to July 16, 2018. In total in the states covered in that period, 78 members of the Nigerian Police have been killed, and their weapons, removed.
