Does IPOB still matter?
7th February 2019
On 5 and 6 February, SBM performed a dipstick survey of Igbo speaking traders in markets around Lagos and Abuja. The total sample size was 322. The survey was performed to get a bird’s eye view of attitudes of the target respondents towards the recent announcement by the Indigenous People of Biafra regarding the 2019 elections. 88 (27.3%) of the respondents were in Abuja, 234 (72.7%) were in Lagos. The markets sampled include Apo, Lugbe, Nyanya and Wuse in Abuja; and Alaba, Computer Village, Idumota, Oshodi and Sango in the Lagos area. Respondents were approached, and the first question put to them after establishing their ethnicity, was if they had a Permanent Voter’s Card. Only five questions were asked. The responses are given in this infograph, and we are leaving it to the reader to draw his conclusions.
