Chart of the week: Nigeria’s other epidemic

Garba Adamu Toro, the Katukan Bauchi, and district head of Toro in Bauchi State, died on Friday, 13 March 2020, in a hospital in Abuja. He died of Lassa fever. As the world panics over the coronavirus, COVID-19, which has reached Nigeria, there is another outbreak in Nigeria, Lassa fever, that has been taking the lives of people. SBM has been tracking the outbreak via media reports since it began in January 2020. So far, we have tracked 302 infections and 56 fatalities.
